About ariri design
ariri design consists of three sisters, all born and raised in northern japan. these three sisters utilize traditional japanese arts to make contemporary designs. many japanese designs embrace simplicity and natural surroundings. ariri designs also uses simple, natural designs that help us “declutter” our busy lives and feel peace and serenity.
the name ariri originated from the three sisters’ family name, ARIJI 有路, which literally translated, means “to have the path”.
mayako focuses on pottery inspired by nature, creating fun, light shapes. kumiko focuses on making tumamizaiku つまみ細工, which are accessories for formal and casual wear—traditional and modern. kayoko specializes in clothing patterned after the traditional japanese kimono, with a modern twist. she also creates dazzling earings using mizuhiki 水引, a colored japanese paper wire.
